I've greatly enjoyed "My Country Year" by Sue Hubbel. A one-time librarian, she's been keeping bees and writing about her experiences in the Ozark Mountains in southern Missouri. Jon Katz, a writer and sometimes sheep farmer, wrote an engaging description of his experiences in "Bedlam Farm."
